who we are
painting blue skies was founded and is run by Elisabeth Tschalaer
Elisabeth has spent 27 years painting homes professionally. Her backbone is in historic and European
style craftsmanship built on green and sustainable systems. She deeply feels the responsibility and
creative potential of small businesses to green the future and be a positive presence in local
communities.
In 1995 she picked up her first brush in Montana with Catherine Combs ‘the best and fastest painter west of
the Mississippi’ and has never looked back. She did a stint with Michael McNamara in Lanesville, MA working on historic homes and went onward to Switzerland to learn green building practices at the Handwerkskollektive in Zürich.
When Elisabeth came back home to Portland in 2000, she spent 3 years in new construction and faux finishing practices, but returned to the love and challenge of old homes and sustainability. She built a large network of happy clients and local historic and old home remodelers: Full Circa Inc., Tim Coulter’s houseworks, Oculus Fine Carpentry Inc., Charlotte Cooney at Domestic Arts, Amy at Red Rooster Remodeling, Erik Smith Contracting a/o, always building and expanding out her trades knowledge deep in the niche of NW buildings.
Happy with a brush in her hand transforming your home with care and professionalism, Painting Blue Skies was born in 2005 and has been turning out happy clients ever since. Check out our projects to be inspired!
I am trained in Benjamin Moore paints and always up to date in the newest standards that paint technology has to offer for beautiful, sustainable, lasting results.
Painting Blue Skies is CCB Oregon licensed for Residential Specialty Contractor and Lead-Based Paint Renovation.
